Author: There are so many reasons to save money these days so saving money while moving is a must. Some would say this is a bat time to move, but I disagree. This is as good a time to move as any. In fact if you are able to get a new house this is the perfect time. The housing bubble has burst and many houses are down right cheap. If you have to move then you just need to be economical and get transport cheap. Here are a few things to think about.
Get Rid of Extra Weight
The fact is that the more stuff you move the more expensive it is going to be. Minimalists have the cheapest moves because they just don’t have much. First thing you need to do is go through everything you have and get rid of as much as possible. Give your excess things away of sell them at a moving sale. You just need to lighten your load.
Be Patient and Plan Ahead
If you are in a hurry to move you will not get the best moving rates or the best movers for that matter. You need to find your movers as far ahead of time as you can and ask them what there cheapest days for moving are. If they wont tell you than try using there reservation wizard on there website. Just keep entering different possible dates to determine which are the cheapest. This also works for getting cheap airline tickets.
Call Around
Get a quote from several moving companies to know which is the cheapest quote. Just keep in mind that the cheapest isn’t always the best. Taking the time to do this is going to be worth it.
