Moving Cheap

I don’t know if you are anything like me but I hate to spend unnecessary money. Moving is so expensive who wants to spend even more money buying moving blankets. If you rent a moving truck you will most likely have the option of renting the companies moving blankets as well. Renting them can be a cheaper option and you wont have to find a place to store them when are done. The big question is why would you want to spend your hard earned money on blankets for moving in the first place.

Protect Your Furniture

You would be surprised how many dents and scratches you can get on your furniture during a move. As I hinted at before, I am cheap. Most of my furniture comes from relatives, so it is hard to think about getting special blankets to keep this furniture perfect. We are talking about furniture that was no longer good enough for other people so they gave it to me for free. Why would I perfect this furniture? That was my thinking during a move so I didn’t bother with the blankets. That was saved money that I would rather have spent. Wooden furniture can mark and scratch very easily and since I am not a collage student it is nice to have clean furniture that looks like they are owned by a grown up. My furniture was so messed up that it looked like the scratches and dings were done on purpose. My kids do less damage.

You can use old blankets and towels, but make sure they are ones that you no longer care about. Moving blankets are heavy duty and strong, they can handle a lot of rough use. An old rug also works, but if the rug is rough they might also course damage. Using blankets for moving is no guarantee that your belongings will arrive in perfect condition. There are just too many factors involved, but they do help.
